Nevada Motorcycle Insurance Laws

Driving a motorcycle is popular in Nevada with about one in every 39 people owning a bike. That’s almost 70,000 motorcycles on the road, and the number only goes up when we take into consideration all of the visitors Nevada gets from other states! If you are in the Las Vegas, NV area and own or lease a motorcycle, it’s crucial that you have a good policy that can keep you protected (after all, this is the most populous area in the state, and it’s one of the busiest in the nation). Not sure what the Nevada motorcycle insurance laws are though? Don’t worry– the experts at Everett Insurance Group are here to help.

Motorcycle insurance laws vary by state, and the truth is that in Nevada, they are quite strict. It is mandatory for all motorcycle drivers to have liability insurance, just as it is with auto drivers. The minimum coverage limits are $15,000 in bodily injury per person, $10,000 in property damage per accident, and $30,000 bodily injury per accident. It is also worth noting that Nevada does have a helmet law, requiring all motorcyclists to wear one while riding. While this does not directly affect your insurance policy, it is just one more thing that will help keep you safe out there on the road.

Now, while the coverage amounts above are the legal requirements, it is important to point out that these are just the bare minimum requirements. In many cases, it is wiser to purchases higher coverage amounts based on how much you ride and where among other things.
